The star of the week was awarded to Hattie for showing courage to come to school even when was feeling unwell.
This week there were two house point champions. Both Riley and Adriana who used noun phrases and alliteration in their poems.

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about poetry using the book ‘I love bugs’ to help us understand the structure of this type of poem. We then wrote a class poem about superheroes before the children wrote their own poems about toys.

This afternoon we visited Abbrook Farm to compare this habitat with our school grounds. We listened carefully to different bird song and identified wild flowers and trees.
Today our open the book assembly was about the value – courage. In this story David had to trust in God and be really brave to defeat Goliath.
Afterwards we talked about times when we have needed to be brave and how that felt.

After noticing that there weren’t many birds in the school grounds we decided to try to make bird feeders to encourage birds into school. We used recycled materials to design and make our bird feeders.
Over the last few weeks we have been working on observing, drawing and then making minibeasts from clay. They have now been painted and look fantastic!

Over the last few weeks we have been thinking about the story of LRRH. We have listened to lots of different versions of this story but focussed on a version by the Nosy Crow where LRRH escapes the big bad wolf. We have learnt how adjectives help to paint a picture for the reader and we have learnt about different sentence types. Finally we have written our own versions of the story. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed writing them.
This week in Art we used our understanding and sketches of minibeasts to create clay minibeasts.
