A visit from Rev Goddard

This afternoon we had a visit from Rev. Goddard. He taught us a new song along with some actions that we enjoyed joining in with. Then he shared a version of the ten lepers. This story taught us about the importance of being beautiful on the inside by being thankful and kind to others. We are all going to try to be beautiful on the inside.

This week our handwriting champion is Joy for making great progress with her handwriting.

Our star of the week is Gracey for her fantastic story demonstrating the British Value of Individual Liberty.

Our housepoint champion is Ethan for his knowledge about how and why to clean his teeth properly as well as an amazing understanding of which foods contain sugar.

Well done everyone!

Athletots

This afternoon we had a visit from Nick Gillard fron Athletots after Harry and Isaac’s mum won a competition for a school visit.

We had a great time playing team games and practising our throwing catching skills.

Our favouite activity was building a hoop hut. This was quite a challenge and required co-operation, patience and resillience. Once we had mastered it we had a race to see which team could build the hut and then knock it down by throwing balls at it first! This was great fun.

Nick was impressed with everyone but awarded a certificate to Olly as he was a good team player and without being asked helped to set up and tidy up the equipment. Well done Olly.

Looking after our teeth

This morning we had a visit from an oral health educator, Tracy Andrews. We talked about all the important jobs our teeth do such as eating, drinking, talking and smiling.

Then we had a go at working out which foods contained sugar, we were surprised at some of the results. We discovered that because so many foods contain sugar it is impossible to avoid it but if we have sugary foods or drinks with our meals it helps to limit the damage.

5 children were chosen to demonstrate plaque on our teeth and good brushing techniques.

Finally we carried out an experiment to see which drinks contained sugar. We found out that milk and water were the best drinks for our teeth.

Tracy gave us all goody bags containing the disclosing tablets, toothpaste, toothbrush and lots of information about looking after our teeth.
